About Us

We Explore Your Roots.

You Climb the Family Tree.

Printed family genealogies can sometimes seem dry, filled with endless pages of pedigree data, lots of cross-referencing, and long lists of dates. MBW works hard to buck this stereotype. Every page of our Family History Volumes is filled with colorful artworks, historic photos, maps, and documents. Meticulously researched, beautifully written and professionally designed, our Family History Volumes showcase your family narrative in new and exciting ways while replicating the exacting standards of commercial publishing houses.

Christopher Marsden is the Director of Modern Bookworks, a specialty book design company creating privately produced family history monographs. A self-described “history nerd,” his fascination with genealogy began when he embarked upon a study of his own family narrative nearly 20 years ago. His varied editorial career began in New York, where he worked for publishing houses including Penguin Books USA, Macmillan Publishing, Simon and Schuster and Oxford University Press. After moving to Atlanta he was named publisher of Builder/Architect Magazine. He later accepted a position as Developmental Editor for Whitman Publishing’s successful Football Vault series.
